    nothing hold
Has anyone experienced this "Hold" on your student account?:

Studnt Accts- Auto Trans Hold, Amount: 0.00, Reason: Automated AR Hold

Seems like it's an Accounts Receivable hold for...zero dollars?

So I'm wondering what the most important/useful "100 level" classes are before diving into the upper division. So far beyond what I have to take (FRINQ and French 101) I've taken "Into To Social And Cultural Anthropology" and I'll be taking "Intro To Literature" in the Winter. I'm basically wondering what lower level classes are best going to prepare me for the upper division, if that makes any sense. I want to be as prepared as possible. I'm currently a Film major but I may switch to Applied Linguistics. Thanks!

    Hero System?
I was wondering if anyone in town is running a game using the Hero System, and if so, if you're looking for an additional player? I've had the 5e revised and 6e books for a while now, but haven't been able to find anyone to play with.

I was looking at the Academic Calendar and saw...

"Last day to clear outstanding balances to avoid $100 Late Payment Fee -- Dec. 11"

I went to the dental clinic once in October and once in November. Something like $200 total. I wasn't planning on paying those bills until financial aid came through on the 28th. Do those count and am I going to get fined? I'm paid up otherwise.

    Nerd question...
Does anyone know if there's a "tabletop gaming" club at PSU? Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, blah blah blah? I'm looking for a new group to play with based from school. Thanks!

    An Open Letter
    Dear Portland State,

I'm pretty okay with you, most of the time. You're a decent campus, and you do an ok-enough job keeping stuff together. But in the last two weeks, I have just a couple points to raise:

    1) Dead week. You understand what dead week is, right? And you understand that when you impose noise restrictions on campus housing for an entire week, it should probably apply to things like LEAF BLOWERS outside dorm windows? Because frankly, leaf blowers are more obnoxious than a building of drunken freshmen. And that's saying a lot.

    2) I understand there's dirt to be moved, holes to be dug, posts to be driven, and passive sentences to be spoken. But seriously? You couldn't have given the poor construction crew the week off? As if stress levels weren't high enough, being awakened at the ungodly hour of 7:30 in the morning to the entire house shaking is not a great way to get a morning started before you have to go take a final.

    3) I understand that the Park Blocks are public park, and thus not subject to PSU's policies. But a protest at Hoffman Hall? That is certainly within your control. Distractions like this are not conducive to learning, to studying, or to being a success in academia.

    Thank you for your time,

Someone who probably didn't do as well on her finals and term papers as she was hoping to because of the constant annoyances that living on campus provides.

Hmm. I don't usually feed the trolls, but the stress of finals has broken me down.

I've lived in the center of the city before. On Burnside, no less. Quieter there. *shrug*

Gods forbid someone use a blog, of all places, to vent their frustration and stress, in hopes that someone might be able to sympathize. Or at least give me a friendly reminder that it could be worse. So much for compassion.

To those who think, gee, I can just go anywhere but PSU - if I was choosing to go to the college of my choice, PSU would not be it. However, life situations, which I will not get into here, made this the most viable option.

I'm going to school to help change some of those situations. Until then, I'll deal.

But, I hope those of you who have to take your frustrations out by denigrating others without knowing the full situation behind a person's life feel better and much more superior.

That's about all I'm going to say on all this. Have a great evening, good luck on finals, and I hope you have a great life.
